Sterling Crane is vitally concerned with incident prevention and occupational health since they involve the health, safety and welfare of all employees.
We are committed to working with our employees, families, clients, contractors, and communities to prevent all incidents and continuously improving upon our health and safety program while recognizing the rights of workers to work in a safe and healthy environment.
Incidents are quite often indicative of inefficient operations which can result not only in employee injuries, but property and equipment damage, production and schedule disruptions and a lack of service to our customers. All levels of management and each employee shall therefore make incident control and occupational health and safety a matter of prime concern. This will be accomplished through the implementation and continuous improvement of Sterling Crane’s Health Safety and Environment management system.
Further, it is the policy of the company that Sterling Crane will comply with all local, provincial/state and federal legislation relating to health and safety. Responsibility for such compliance will rest with the branch managers and department managers.
In addition to compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environment legislation, managers and supervisors are responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by:
It must also be recognized that each Sterling Crane employee has a responsibility to themselves and to the company for their personal safety and the safety of their fellow workers. They must observe and adhere to all safety rules and instructions relating to safe and efficient work habits. Sterling Crane recognizes that all employees have the right, responsibility, and obligation to refuse work when unsafe conditions exist on a Sterling Crane or a customer worksite. The control and prevention of incidents will require dedicated participation of all employees, as well as continuous scrutiny by all managers and supervisors, in order for the program to be effective and successful.
The measure of this success will be reflected in lower incident frequency and severity rates, improved employee morale and increased productivity.
